Grow zinnias and support Pierce Street Gateway
Pierce Street is one of the most historically significant streets in Virginia — home to a Tuskegee airman, the first Black female architect, and one of the first Black-owned business in Lynchburg, among others. Pierce Street Gateway exists to tell those stories and keep this neighborhood's history alive. We're mid-renovation on a museum and community hub at 1301 Pierce Street, and Flower Power is our first peer-to-peer fundraiser — a way for the community to get involved, grow something together, and fund the work that makes all of it possible.
Sign up as a grower. Plant your zinnia seeds. Ask your friends and family to sponsor your growing effort. Their donations go directly to the Pierce Street Museum and its programs.
It runs five weeks, from the June 25 kickoff through the August 6 Finale Festival.
Pay the $10 registration fee and get your personal fundraising page. That's where your donors will give.
Come to the June 25 kickoff garden party at the Pierce Street Community Garden. Pick up your zinnia seeds, growing instructions, and fundraising guide.
Plant your seeds and share photos with your network as they grow. Ask friends and family to sponsor your effort. We'll send you weekly reminders and content to help.
Bring your blooms to the August 6 Finale Festival at the Pierce Street Farmers Market. Compete for prizes. Hear the fundraising totals. Celebrate what your community built.
